Following the signing of the Alcanizes Treaty, Dinis I rebuilt Castelo Bom to consolidate borders. The construction of a wall began at this time. Work was finished by the start of Fernando I of Portugal's reign in 1367

Manuel I of Portugal grants Castelo Bom the Foral Novo, causing the repair of the castle and city wall. Structural repair by 2 Biscayne artists is documented - João Ortega and Pero Fernandes. Other names connected to the project are Francisco de Anzinho and Garcia Fernandes
